Creating a SQL Server Linked Server to MySQL

If you get the following error after setting up a SQL Server Linked Server to a MySQL database:

mysql linked server error 7303 is not allowed to connect

First, take note of the IP address of the server that the linked server was created on.  Then use MySQL Workbench to connect to the MySQL instance using SSH and run the following command:

GRANT SELECT,INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE,CREATE,DROP
ON database.*
TO user@ipaddress
IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

That's it!
